Libertines frontman Pete Doherty has been hospitalised after he was stabbed by a hedgehog. Doherty described the vicious encounter he had with the hedgehog in a series of tweets.

So it goes, Doherty was walking his two huskies, Zeus and Narco, when one of them scooped up  “the cute wee verminous Shnuffle shuffle Pig of the Hedge.” When attempting to remove the hedgehog from the dog’s jaw, one of the spines got lodged in his hand. An infection arose from the spine and Doherty was forced to go to the hospital to get it removed.

The news of Doherty’s fateful encounter with the bristly beast was broken by BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Nihal Arthanayake. Doherty was scheduled to appear on Arthanayake’s show to discuss his latest album Peter Doherty And The Puta Madres. “Pete Doherty is now in hospital having the infected hedgehog spine removed from his finger,” Arthanayake shared. “We wish Pete well because whatever has happened is serious enough that he has not been able to make it.”

Pete Doherty’s latest record, Peter Doherty And The Puta Madres, was released on April 26th. Stream it below.
