American alt-rock act Phantom Planet reunited over the weekend for the first time in half a decade. Consequence of Sound have reported that the band played a secret gig in Beverly Hills on Saturday night. Phantom Planet achieved cult status in the mid-2000s after their contribution to theme song of the greatest television series of all time, The OC.

Rumours are circulating that Phantom Planet may be teasing an official return.
Last week, prior to the secret reunion, the band launched an official Instagram account. The only post featured on the account is a picture of the band’s old logo.
Members Alex Greenwald and Sam Farrar have both made vague posts relating to Phantom Planet on their personal accounts. There has been no word as to whether drummer Jason Schwartzman will be joining in on this reunion. For all we know he’s probably too busy stuttering his way through a perfectly symmetrical Wes Anderson set.
