Once they’ve conquered the world of music where else can rock stars turn to keep the flame of their fame alive? The wonderful world of cameos of course! We countdown some of the funniest and best cameos in films, with some you may have missed.

Lemmy in Airheads

When Brenden Fraser’s character admits he was dork in high school and only learned to love music later in life, Frontman for Motorhead Lemmy jumps to his defence admitting he was the editor of his high school newspaper. Funny thing is, according to legend this might actually be true.

Billy Idol in The Wedding Singer

Punk rocker Billy Idol agreed to appear in the film because A. He would have to watch it with his son anyway, and B. His son would get a kick seeing his dad in a film with Adam Sandler. True story.

Blink 182 in American Pie

Blink 182 were at the height of popularity with teens when the producers for teen comedy American Pie decided they should make a cameo in the film. If you watch the credits closely they credit the bands old drummer. Oops.

Keith Richards in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End

Johnny Depp reportedly based his Jack Sparrow character off famous rocker Keith Richards, so it came as a no brainer when a dad to the pirate captain was introduced into the storyline that the human riff should play him.

Jack White in Walk Hard

Apparently Jack White wasn’t the first choice of film makers Judd Apatow and John C Reilly for the role of Elvis. In an interview Reilly said “It was the toughest part to cast. You’d be amazed what scaredy cats there are among actors, You say, ‘You wanna play Elvis?’ ‘Oh, I dunno, man, you know, that’s a lot, everyone knows who Elvis is.’ So what? It turns out the guy with the biggest balls is Jack White.”

Alice Cooper in Wayne’s World

We’re not sure who benefits most from this, all we know is that Alice Cooper and Wayne’s World make a great and classic combination.

Marilyn Manson in Party Monster

When you make a film about cracked out sexual deviants, surely the late 20th centuries pretender to the ‘Prince Of Darkness’ throne is an obvious choice for a cameo.

Elvis Costello and Mos Def in Talladega Nights: Ballad of Ricky Bobby

We thought this film was pretty average, but getting two of the coolest men in music to make a cameo will certainly save this film from the long film annals of obscurity.

David Bowie in Zoolander

If you’re going to have the two most famous models go face to face in an ultimate underground walk off you’re going to need a damn good umpire. Who else but the purveyor of cool Mr David Bowie himself?

Phil Collins in Hook

We already loved this film, we cried when Rufio died, yelled when Hook tricked Pan, and….hang on….is that Phil Collins? Don’t believe us, check out this footage from the film below.
