Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has returned with his first solo material in five years with new single, ‘Yes, I Have Ghosts’.

The track is a gorgeous, tender acoustic number featuring vocal contributions from his daughter Romany. The track is an accompaniment for his wife Holly Samson’s audiobook for her coming-of-age book A Theatre for Dreamers.

In a statement accompanying the song, Gilmour mused, “Polly’s vivid and poetic writing, coupled with her very natural narration voice, made joining forces to produce the audio version of A Theatre for Dreamers a fantastic and fulfilling experience.”

He added: “The audiobook format has so much untapped potential, and I am surprised more musicians have not creatively collaborated with authors, narrators and audiobook producers in this way before. The two worlds seem to seamlessly link, and music can really help to bring audiobooks to life in unexpected new ways.

“I am really pleased and proud of how Polly’s words and my music have entwined in this audio version of A Theatre for Dreamers.”

“I actually suggested going democratic. I said, ‘Why don’t we just have a vote? There’s only three of us…’ No, no, they wouldn’t have that. God knows why. Not that there is a God — you know what I mean?”
