With his first solo record in a whopping 25 years out for all to hear, Pink Floyd icon Roger Waters might be about to do something he’s never done: get a #1 record of his own.

Of course, Waters earned six #1 albums throughout his time with the world-conquering Pink Floyd, but if his latest solo work Is This The Life We Really Want? holds steady, he’ll finally have the UK #1 album spot all to himself.

As the UK’s Official Charts show, the midweek tally gives Waters the edge over All Time Low with their seventh record Last Young Renegade at #2, and Alt-J’s Relaxer at #4, with the chart week concluding this Friday June 9.

There are a couple of interesting wildcards in the mix, however, that could throw Roger’s #1 honours for a loop: The Beatles, and Ariana Grande. While Sgt. Peppers’ 50th anniversary celebrations have sent the album all the way to #3 as it currently stands, Billboard reports that we may see a more sombre challenger for the top spot.

With Grande appearing prominently at the globally-publicised benefit concert for victims of the recent bombing of her Manchester concert that killed 22 people and injured dozens more, her album Dangerous Woman has picked up significant sales, and while it’s only found its way into #16 so far, it may surge into the top 10 in the second half of the week.

While we’re sure Roger Waters is more concerned with the anti-war message of his album reaching as many people as possible – especially considering the current climate and recent events – the #1 spot would be an accolade he certainly deserves.
