Who are you and what do you do in your act?
My name is Mitchy Moo Mums. I am in charge of the bottom end of the business. I like interesting food and romantic strolls on empty beaches.
‘Fess up. What records have you stolen from your parent’s record collection and why?
I’m sorry, call me old fashioned but stealing is against the law and a downright low act, especially from your parents. My mum has no taste and my dad renounced music when Cat Stevens changed his name, they grew up, dumped their youth and focussed on making money.
What’s on heavy rotation on your iPod right now?
My ipod is rat shit, I listen to the radio and CDs in my car. I like Little Dragon.
‘Home taping is killing the music business was the catch-cry of the record industry in the 1970s, but it managed to survive until now. What do you think is the difference between mates taping copies of friend’s records back in the 80s and 90s and file sharing now?
Um, that depends upon how many mates you had, could it be that it’s a lot more accessible now? Therefore there is a lot more pirating? I still buy CDs.
You must answer this question honestly or we steal your rider. What was the first gig you went to?Where was it and what was the venue?
‘Chili Peppers at the Festival Hall in Brissy; Blood Sugar… tour minus John Frusciante unfortunately.
What’s your favourite site to download music from and do you ever pay for it? Can we find any of your releases there?
I don’t download much! I bought The Stroke ‘Angles’ from iTunes last, but generally prefer to buy a CD.
What artist made you want to pick up an instrument and/or sing?
When I was very young (preschool young) I asked for a trombone for Christmas, I’m not sure why, I just remember wanting one. Instead I was given an acoustic guitar which I literally bashed around on but never learnt anything for years. Then in high school I started listening to Black Sabbath, I wanted to chop the tips of my fingers off and imitate the styling of Tony Iommi.
Have you ever been arrested?
Um no, I’m a good lad. I’m very quite and reserved, the type of person that you know you can trust!
Do you have any particular ritual before you go on stage, or even a lucky charm you take with you?
I like to sit cross legged in a transient state with sweet incense wafting, drifting in and out of consciousness in absolute bliss. I like to bring my own personal Persian rug on tour to remind me of my den at home.
What’s been your most outrageous rider request?
Um I think we asked for corn chips and salsa when we played Splendour In The Grass. Which, I’d like to say, we didn’t get!
Because it’s more fun to do things together, which living Australian artist would you most like to collaborate with? Tell us why?
I would like to collaborate with ‘The Voice’ cause my son loves him and would lose his shit. I would like to write our new National anthem with Johnny at the helm.
