Bursting onto the scene a number of years ago, ALPHAMAMA quickly became one of the most vital names in the Aussie music scene, amazing her legions of loyal fans thanks to an eclectic, mesmerising style.
Scoring support slots for the likes of Salt n Pepa, Thundamentals, NGAIIRE, and Jessica Mauboy along the way, ALPHAMAMA undoubtedly proved herself as one of the most exciting musicians going around, releasing the amazing Truth, Trips & Revelations back in 2013.
Recently returning with her latest single ‘3×11’, the track has managed to score a huge 70,000 streams in just one month on Spotify, and has received plenty of love from the likes of triple j’s Home & Hosed, The Hip-Hop Show, and other tastemakers around the globe.
Now, with the release of her Oil & Water EP, ALPHAMAMA has unleashed a stunning collection of tracks that is bound to make her a household name in no time.
Having matured and refined her sound somewhat since her last album, Oil & Water is described as an “insightful and honest documentation of self discovery and self acceptance”.
Effortlessly slipping between genres like jazz, hip-hop, soul, and dance, the record also showcases ALPHAMAMA’s Indonesian heritage through poetry on tracks like ‘Ballers’, and gamelan samples on ‘Stranger In Asia’.
