Melbourne indie-rock gems Big League are back, sharing the video for ‘Earth = Active Neutral’, the latest single from their upcoming album.
For a few years now, Melbourne’s Big League have been serving as one of the finest purveyors of ’90s-influenced indie-rock on the scene. Formed by the husband and wife team of Travis & Marie Velthoven, the endearing quintet have fast found a name for themselves not just at home, but abroad as well.
In addition to tour dates across the US, Big League picked up some critical acclaim off the back of a set at SXSW in 2018, showcasing cuts from their debut album, I Thought Thunderbolt.
Having shared the single ‘Olympic Mystery’ in 2018, the band are now gearing up to unleash their long-awaited second album, A Symbol Like A Cloud, sharing the clip for their latest single today.
Dubbed ‘Earth = Active Neutral’, this fuzzy piece of jangle pop has the innate power to get under your skin, causing you to hum its almost haunting melodies for hours to come, and leaving you wanting so much more.
Accompanied by an uneasy clip by Gordon Holland, the hazy nature of the song is compounded by eerie lighting and glitchy effects atop footage of the band performing the song.
“With so much fear and unrest surrounding our current way of life, and the future of everything we know and love, it’s as good a time as any to ask the people who have the power to change the course of the future what they value, through the medium of an indie rock song,” says Travis Velthoven.
