Milk Buttons first impressed us back in 2017 with their first EP. The psych-rock infused ‘Songs For My Butcherbird‘ made waves, big-time.

The band is comprised of leading members Cameron Bower and Jackson Muir, who both live on different ends of Australia – Bower being from Brisbane, and Muir from Melbourne.

They’re back with a sophomore EP, ‘Daffodil’. ‘Cosmic Garbage’ was released in August, and the EP’s lead single ‘Some Impression’ premiered on Home & Hosed on triple j back in November. Today, Tone Deaf is excited to premiere the second EP for Milk Buttons.

Listen to Milk Buttons’ sophomore EP ‘Daffodil’

Daffodil is eclectic in nature. A combination of psychedelic, colourful and kaleidoscopic pieces. Opening track ‘Bright Lights and Strange Bouquets’ provides for fast-paced rhythms and blissfully harmonic guitars.

The striking and melancholic ‘Penguin’ follows, and echoes feelings of sentimentality.

Already released track ‘Cosmic Garbage’ precedes ‘Daffodil’, the EP’s title track. ‘Daffodil’ is the psychedelic lover’s would-be haven – a poly-rhythmic extended-play highlight. It also provides for a mid-record break before ‘Some Impression’.

Following ‘Some Impression’ is ‘Burnley Town’. Coming in at seven minutes, ‘Burnley Town’ is an iconic point – which highlights the symbiotic relationship between principle band members Cameron Bower and Jackson Muir.
