One of Sydney’s best dance producers Clulow just recorded the ultimate 4/20 anthem, and asked us to drop it at 4:20pm today, which made so much numerical sense to us, we knew we had to do it. Plus, you know, it rules.
Clulow has been playing clubs, pubs, and warehouse parties around Sydney for the past few years, and has been spun on FBi and triple j – and at my house one evening when we got drunk and blasted his anthem Tinder Killed The Club.
Clulow had this to say about his dope-theme: “The tune is rigged for the doof; built for the flow of the good times – but also pushes for change. The tune hits a climax, with ’90s stab chords to drive it home. The sample is from a question posed to President Obama by Miguel Williams back in 2015 at the University of the West Indies.”
The single is released through Surveillance Party: a digital record label, artist collective, and events crew based in Sydney. They put on gigs and raves which create a positive and inclusive scene for people – which is way better than a negative and exclusive scene.
Itch-E & Scratch-E recently played one of the Surveillance Party shows, and they pretty much invented the Sydney dance scene, so there.
Happy 4/20.
