On July 17th, New Wave heroes Pretenders will unleash their eleventh studio album, Hate For Sale. Ahead of the release, the band have shared a brand new single, ‘You Can’t Hurt a Fool’.
‘You Can’t Hurt a Fool’ draws from a different sonic palette from the previously released singles ‘The Buzz and ‘Hate For Sale’. The track is a slow burning R&B crooner.
“I suppose our biggest influence apart from crazy, hard-core rock and roll has been R&B,” Hynde in a statement. “James [Walbourne] and I really grappled with this one to get in all the subtleties and nuance of an R&B classic, albeit with modern, autobiographical lyrics… The fool is me!”
