Last weekend, two members of Russian protest group Pussy Riot — who stormed the field at this year’s world cup— were arrested in Moscow. Veronika Nikulshina and Peter Verzilov were arrested after a day of protesting against Russia’s proposed government pension overhaul.

It has since been revealed by publication Meduza that Verzilov was hospitalised and in critical condition, following a potential poisoning. Nikulshina, Verzilov’s partner told the publication that “he’s started losing his sight, speech, and mobility.” She continued “The doctor only said that his condition was serious, but his behaviour was improving and he’d started responding to his own name.”
