Quincy, a documentary about the life of Quincy Jones will premiere on Netflix on September 21st. The documentary is co-directed by the legendary producers’ daughter Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation, The Social Network).

Quincy will be a career-spanning documentary delving into Jones’  legacy as a jazz conductor, film composer, trumpeter and celebrated producer.

Lisha Nishimura, the vice president of original documentaries at Netflix has stated “It’s a rare opportunity to be able to present the definitive story of someone who has for over seven decades, not just influenced, but altered the course of culture. Combining his God given creative gift with a near maniacal work ethic, Quincy Jones has done just that, marshalling every expression of the arts to their full potency resulting in everything from ‘Thriller’ to The Color Purple.’”

Quincy Jones is the most Grammy-nominated musician in history, with 79 nominations, and 27 wins — second to George Solti.

The documentary will have a limited theatrical release.

Earlier this year Quincy Jones apologised for a series of wild interviews, one which saw him claim The Beatles “were the worst musicians in the world”, read about it here.
