Rainbow Kitten Surprise have announced their first-ever Australian headline tour, set to take place in early 2026.
Presented by Secret Sounds, the US-based alt-rock band will perform at Melbourne’s Forum on January 23, Brisbane’s Tivoli on January 28, and Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on February 1. These shows will take place between their support slots for Ocean Alley – alongside Nothing But Thieves and Ruby Fields – at major outdoor summer concerts.
The North Carolina outfit shot to global fame with their 2018 single “It’s Called: Freefall,” which went viral on TikTok and earned platinum certification. The track cemented their cult status, known for emotionally charged lyrics and magnetic live performances, which have sold out venues across North America.
Their fourth studio album, Love Hate Music Box, was released last year – marking their first LP in six years – and peaked at #142 on the Billboard 200. It was praised for lead singer Ela Melo’s lyrical vulnerability and exploration of personal growth and hardship since their previous release.
Melo, who came out as transgender in 2022, told Paste Magazine “there are a lot of struggles that the band and I have gone through, collectively, over the past six years that show up in this record.”
“While there is pain, there is also the joy of life and finding new, exciting ways to live it, which has really happened to me in the last six years – a lot has changed, and I want people to see that journey.”
They most released single “Dang” from their upcoming album Bones, promising a shorter turnaround between extended releases for fans.
