Rammstein fans could be forgiven for being a little bit impatient. As it stands, it’s been almost nine years since they released their last studio album, and with rumours that the next album could be the last, it’s a little bit anxiety-inducing watching Rammstein deliver no new studio material. However, fans can now rest a little bit easier, with the group announcing over the weekend that they’re back at work in the studio.
Back in October, keyboardist Christian Lorenz confirmed that Rammstein are working on their new album, but offered little more information (or proof) of this fact. “We have started to compile ideas for songs and develop them as a band,” he revealed to Kaaos TV.
“It is difficult to say how far along we are”, he clarified. “A lot of the time everything seems to be going well, and then there are days when we just want to start the whole process all over again. That is why there is no objective view about how far [for complete] we are.”
Now, the group have given fans a positive update, taking to Facebook to upload a gallery which shows band members in a studio which has been noted as being Studios La Fabrique, in Southern France. Accompanied with the simple caption of “Work in progress,” it’s a small update, but the most that fans have had in a very long time.
Back in July, guitarist Richard Kruspe revealed that the group’s next album, their follow-up to 2009’s Liebe Ist Für Alle Da, could be their last.
“I was very skeptical to go back with Rammstein into the studio, because last time we almost broke up because of making a record,” Kruspe stated. “So it’s just always very, very stressful and painful. And I think going through that experience – I was a little nervous about that. And we came up with a deal, or an agreement. We said that we wanna go back and only record maybe five songs, to not put any pressure on us.”
“I just feel like, for some reason, that it’s gonna be the last record we do,” he admitted. “That’s a feeling — I can be wrong, but just at the moment, I feel like this is maybe the last shot we have, and I wanna give two hundred percent in that and make it as good as it can be.”
So will Rammstein’s seventh album be their last? Only time will tell, but we at least finally have confirmation that they’re hard at work making the new album.
