Is this another example of the classic state where pop will eat itself? Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello is putting out his new band Street Sweeper Social Club’s debut EP and they pull out a couple of surprising covers. As well as a cover of LL Cool J’s 90s hit ‘Mama Said Knock You Out’, they’ve also covered M.I.A.’s club smash hit and bogan favourite ‘Paper Planes’. Of course that song is built around a sample of The Clash’s ‘Straight To Hell’ who in turn are arguably the biggest influence on Rage Against The Machine. So, errr, it becomes a case of everyone influencing everyone it would seem. The full track listing for Ghetto Blaster is:
– Ghetto Blaster
– Everythang
– Paper Planes (M.I.A. Cover)
– The New Fuck You
– Scars (Hold That Pose)
– Mama Said Knock You Out (LL Cool J cover)
– Promenade (Guitar Fury Remix)
