Black is touring behind SALVATION, a future-facing pop record that dropped in January and includes singles like “TRUST!” and “Sugar Water Cyanide”.

Earlier this month, she made headlines when longtime pal Katy Perry crashed her SALVATION tour stop at LA’s El Rey Theatre. The two reunited onstage for a nostalgic spin through “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”, a nod to Black’s cameo in Perry’s 2011 video.

It’s been more than a decade since “Friday” went viral — and Black has spent the past few years reclaiming her narrative and stepping confidently into her pop era.

“I think that’s the most ironic thing about what happened with ‘Friday,’” she told Rolling Stone. “Music was the thing that ultimately got me through that time of loneliness. It was the only thing I felt was there for me, for a long time.”

“I feel now like I’ve never been closer to the person that I was as a child,” she added. “I’ve done a lot of work on myself over these past five years to get back to that. To heal some of the teenage trauma that we’ve all been through.”
