British supergroup AxeWound have released their debut studio album Vultures only months after exposing their existence.

The band comprises of Cancer Bats vocalist Liam Cormier, Bullet for My Valentine’s frontman Matt Tuck on backup vocals and guitar, Glamour Of The Kill’s Mike Kingswood is on on guitar as well as Jason Bowld from Pitchshifter on drums.

Tuck and Bowld took on most of the writing duties after coming up with the animal that is AxeWound.

The metal/hardcore aesthetic in Vultures is a real hit at times but sometimes goes amiss in some of the blander tracks. Cormier’s raw growls add a dangerous edge to the tracks like ‘Cold’ and ‘Exorchrist’. Both songs were released to the public online before the album came out.

When AxeWound was unveiled upon social media networks, they introduced themselves with the second track on the album, ‘Post-Apocalyptic Party’. This should have been the third cut for the band as it does not encompass the band’s true sound as much as some of the others – especially since it doesn’t have Tuck on vocals.

Tracks like ‘Destroy’ truly develop into a metal masterpiece demonstrating the raw talent of the members in this supergroup. If you’re a fan of Cancer Bats and Bullet for My Valentine, this is the record for you.
