This release from the Brookyln-based post-punk fellas Parquet Courts is full of energy, zest and some good old fashioned anarchy. In other words – it’s pretty damn good.

Released just over a year after first LP Light Up Gold, the newest offering is nothing short of a satisfying follow up.

Fueled by Andrew Savage’s toothy murmuring vocals (which create the most interesting sensation of Savage both caring immensely, yet simultaneously not caring at all) and paired with a tight rhythmic section throughout, the record powers from track to track in bursts of rattling guitar.

Moving from the recorder ridden laments of “You’ve Got Me Wondering Now” to repeated slurs in “The More It Works”, the album culminates in a 7 and a half minute tale about a weed courier riding around New York – “He’s Seeing Paths”.

The perfect album closer, this encapsulation of a city’s grit sees the group eventually fading into a gloriously messy jam.
