We’re just a bunch of guys who love to make music. We spend our waking hours working on tunes, watching films, surfing, and eating mexican food…

With the success of your EP’s and having done so many shows this year can we expect an album soon?

You most definitely can. We’ve been working away non-stop in an abandoned water tank we converted into a studio earlier this year. Needless to say there have been too many all nighters to count as we chip away at the album.

RüFüS have also become known for producing cracker remixes, what makes a good remix?

For us, a good remix has legs as a separate track while still bringing out the vibe of the original. We also love a cheeky remix that takes one of the least important elements of a track and completely goes down that tangent as the basis for the remix. Ultimately it needs to feel like a natural progression of the idea like any good track.

What’s the most difficult part of translating the electronic aspects of your music to the live stage?

I guess it’s just working out how to arrange each track so that the energy is right for the live setting. We might look at some of our more minimal, electronic songs and make the call as to whether it needs more of a live percussive element to make it more danceable, or whether it’s meant to remain a quieter point in the set. From there it’s just working out the progression of the set.

For the uninitiated, what’s a RüFüS gig like?

A flurry of arms and legs, blinding lights, criminal levels of sub and a whole lot of cowbell..

Is it slightly scary getting recognised overseas or just uncontrollably exciting?

Uncontrollably exciting for sure… We can’t wait to get overseas again and dish out some of this new material we’ve been working on to our fans.

How do you find new music?

Blogs, friends, youtube, radio, other artists, and pretty much anywhere we can get a recommendation for something fresh.

Do you have any particular ritual before you go on stage, or even a lucky charm you take with you?

Generally it’s just about getting into a really chilled headspace so that we can go on stage with a clear mind and really perform. There is definitely some heavy meditation going down at some point…

Because it’s more fun to do things together, which living Australian artist would you most like to collaborate with?

It would be sweet to collaborate with Hermitude, we’ve been loving their output for the last few years and really dig their sound. It would be super interesting to see what kind of offspring came from a collaboration..

What is your band’s music the best soundtrack for?

A slow motion showreel of phosphorescent sea creatures dancing in unison.

Where and when can we see you play next?

At the Beach Road on the 19th of December, or for those in Perth over the new year we’ll be hitting up the Capitol for this crazy NYE party with the Voltaire Twins and a bunch of other sweet acts.
