A month after he dropped his single ‘Sydney’, Rich Brian has released an equally lavish music video looking back on his success story.

Indonesian rapper Rich Brian is back with a lush music video for his single ‘Sydney’ released earlier this year in March.

Continuing the song’s self-assured, confident tones, where the rapper talks about his journey from Indonesia to a global stage — at one point, he sings: “I came from my bedroom to the motherfuckin stage, talked to God the other day, I told him look at what you made, it’s a championship, I’m getting seven rings in seven days, your career is like a emo kid, it’s just a fuckin’ phase,” — the music video puts him in a lavish mansion.

As is customary of his brand of humour, the ostentatious displays of wealth — whether it’s him lifting weights in a pool or riding lawn mowers — often border on comic relief, as if poking fun at the tradition of showing off.

The single is the second time Rich Brian has professed his love for Australia. In a statement accompanying the release of ‘Sydney’ in March, he’d said: ““I created ‘Sydney’ after listening to a ton of Three 6 Mafia. The entire production of this single was heavily inspired by the hip-hop group. I also wanted to hear myself flexing about my life over some beautiful saxophone.”

Admittedly, the inspiration for the track came from his experiences in Australia while on tour: “When I started rapping over this beat, Sydney was the city that naturally came to mind to flex with.”

Brian also sent a shout out to Australia on 88rising’s 2019 compilation album Head In The Clouds II with his track ‘Gold Coast’, which he described as “the most memorable experience” of his life.
