The inimitable Robert Forster returns to the stage after a two year hiatus, with a solo show presenting a sparkling cross-section of his acclaimed catalogue: old, recent, borrowed, and new. Become re-acquainted with one of Australia’s most complex and intelligent artists, a performer and writer with a unique take on the human condition.

The tour follows the release of ‘Quiet Heart: The Best Of The Go-Betweens’, an eighteen-track compilation curated by Forster with past band members Lindy Morrison, Amanda Brown and Robert Vickers celebrating the work of the group.

As one of the founding members of The Go-Betweens, Robert Forster has an enviable cannon of songwriting credits to his name; three eras of elegant twang, beguiling melody and intimate, vividly detailed storytelling. From 1982 – 2005, Forster and songwriting partner Grant McLennan, released 9 albums with The Go-Betweens. Critics from Rolling Stone to the New York Times sang their praises and the band were feted from Berlin to New York and back to their adopted home in London. Robert Chistgau in the Village Voice called Forster and McLennan “the greatest songwriting partnership working today.”

As a solo artist, Forster released 4 albums of original material. His last solo outing ‘The Evangelist’ (2008), received 4 and 5 star reviews the world over and was nominated as one of the albums of the year by the influential Uncut magazine in the UK.

In 2005 Forster began writing music criticism for The Monthly magazine. By 2006 he was awarded the prestigious Pascal Prize for Critical Writing. His work has also been anthologised in the New York edited Best Music Writing 2007, and The Best Australian Essays 2009. In 2010 he released his first book ‘The 10 Rules of Rock and Roll’.

Don’t miss Robert Forster’s return to the stage in 2012.
