This Sunday 19th September at Collingwood’s illustrious Victoria Park Ground, training home to the AFL Club of the same name; the little brother of June’s infamous Community Cup is roaring back to life. The Tim Hemensley Cup is held in honour of the late God, Bored! and Powdermonkeys legend who sadly passed away in 2003. It’s also in aid of Reclink, a charity which uses sport to assist those with drug, alcohol, mental health problems and such – get a leg up in life.

Featuring the dubious sporting talents of the Espy Rockdogs against The Tote, and with the newly formed Cherry Bar Bombs versus the Worker’s Club, this is going to be a case of the unfit versus the still drunk from Saturday night. The Espy Rockdogs team features the mercurial Dan Sultan as captain, Jo Syme, You Am I’s Tim Rogers, members of The Vasco Era, The Cosmic Psychos’ Ross Knight and members of hotly tipped band Money For Rope.

Showing the depth of talent in the Espy Rockdogs team – or perhaps the lack thereof – they’ve also roped in Tone Deaf’s Editor, Jim Murray, to play. Tone Deaf would like to apologise in advance for any of you who may witness his skinny white legs running across the field, in which is possibly the most laughable team selection you’ll ever see in Melbourne. P.S. if anyone has a pair of size seven footy boots they can bring to the game on Sunday, please email [email protected]

Come one, come all to Victoria Park this Sunday – gates open at 11am and the Cherry Bombs take on the Workers Club at midday followed by the Espy Rockdogs vs The Tote at 1:30pm.
