Gary “Angry” Anderson has suffered a cardiac arrest, Rose Tattoo have revealed.
Just weeks after the Australian rock band was forced to cancel a European tour due to a “medical issue,” they provided an update today (August 31st).
“On behalf of Angry and his family, we would like to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming messages of support, love and kind words,” the statement reads.
“Your thoughts, prayers and well wishes mean more to Angry and his family than we can express.
“We would like to let everyone know that Angry suffered a cardiac arrest and is currently in hospital receiving treatment and the care he needs.
“At this time, we kindly ask that you please respect the privacy of Angry and his family as they focus on Angry, his treatment and his recovery. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and ask that you continue to keep Angry and his family in your thoughts and prayers during the days ahead.
“We are incredibly grateful for the love and support that has already been shown. It is comforting to know just how many people are thinking of Angry and wishing him strength in his recovery.”
Rose Tattoo had nine more shows scheduled on their ‘One Last Ride’ tour, which kicked off last month. The cancellation comes during what is set to be the band’s final year of touring, with the veteran rockers announcing earlier this month they would step away from the road after more than 50 years.
When announcing their final year of touring, Anderson said the farewell run was about celebrating the band’s five-decade history with the fans who had supported them along the way.
“Rose Tattoo has always been about our brothers & sisters,” he said. “The fans have carried us through every decade, every tour and every challenge. We’ve been incredibly fortunate to do what we love for so long and now it’s time to celebrate that journey together one last time.”

The band are currently scheduled to return to Australia in September for a run of farewell shows in Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, and Brisbane. They are also due to join Suzi Quatro on the Red Hot Summer Tour lineup in November.
