Rumour Control is now proud to release their self-titled debut EP, recorded this year at The Wick Studio of Melbourne and produced by Jesse Hooper of Killing Heidi.
Rumour Control is a four-piece alternative rock outfit that has been earning their keep of Melbourne’s music scene for the last 18 months.
A combination of straight rock riffs that melt together with progressive rhythms and epic arena style choruses, the songs capture the feeling of standing at the edge of a cliff as the world is going under.
The narrative of Ian Dadon’s powerful vocals and lyrics draw on his experiences from the war in the Middle East and views on modern society, politics and the human emotions.
Inspired by what he had seen during his time in the Israeli army, Ian Dadon formed the beginnings of an idea for Rumour Control.
After his service in the army, Ian moved to London. He started writing and recording songs by himself. From vocals, piano, guitar to plucking violins he experimented his way to find his sound. He is a self-taught multi instrumentalist
Aware of Melbourne’s musical reputation, Ian travelled to Australia to find a group of likeminded but musically unique people to begin what is Rumour Control today.
Ian found James Webb trough a musical networking site, and this led to the string of connections that formed the band today.
Brendan Vandermeer (Guitar) classically trained from a young age, Brendan’s passion for guitar has seen him win Best Rock Guitarist at the Emergenza Battle of the Bands 2010. He has also previously played lead for Atticus Thump, a popular local band and winner of the Allans Music Bandtasia competition. Brendan provides an old school rock sound with an aggressive edge to Rumour Control.
Tom Frederick (Bass) has played with several different bands crossing genres like folk, metal, punk and progressive rock. He has written soundtracks, been a part of several music collectives and is always working on a new music project. Tom brings the cool to the band.
James Webb (Drums) is trained in big band style drumming focused on jazz and funk. He went on to play in several rock bands which has given him a huge range in drumming techniques and a creative drive in music. James brings a progressive sound to the band.
