Over 20 years since their first trek to our shores, indie rock icons Sebadoh have announced their first Aussie tour since 2014.

Throughout the ’90s, one of the most exciting acts on the scene was undoubtedly Sebadoh. Formed by Dinosaur Jr. bassist Lou Barlow and Eric Gaffney, their output was classically lo-fi, with their predominantly cassette-only releases finding an avid fanbase within underground music circles.

As the years continued, so did the band’s popularity, eventually signing to Sub Pop and releasing a number of albums now cited as classics by the alternative community.

As their lineup fluctuated, and Barlow found himself working on the Sentridoh and Folk Implosion side projects, the release of 1999’s The Sebadoh saw the group make their first-ever trip to Australia.

Following a 14-year recording hiatus, the band reconvened in 2013, releasing Defend Yourself before visiting Australia once more the following year.

Now, with their long-awaited new record, Act Surprised, being unleashed earlier this year, Lou Barlow and co. are set to treat their local fans with another classic tour.

Kicking off at the end of January, this tour will see Sebadoh hit up Melbourne, Hobart, Sydney, and Brisbane across the space of four days, showcasing tracks from their latest record and their classic releases.

Needless to say, any self-respecting fan of the genre won’t want to miss these icons when they find themselves gearing up for their first Aussie tour in almost six years early next year.
