Sheppard’s year-long project of single releases continues to take shape.

‘Don’t Believe In Love’ is the latest offering from Sheppard, as the Brisbane group continue to work their way toward the release of a brand new album for 2020.

The single, following on from 2019’s ‘Die Young’, has the band focusing on heartbreak and relationship woes. Common pop song territory, sure, but as Sheppard put it, ‘Don’t Believe In Love’ is an ‘anti-love song’.

“We’ve all been in that dark place where we feel like love is not made for us,” George Sheppard said in a statement.

“When it doesn’t go right, love can hurt us like nothing else can, and this song is about those times where it just feels easier to build up those walls and never let love in, rather than risk being hurt again.”

‘Don’t Believe In Love’ is the first of Sheppard’s new releases planned for 2020. As part of their year-long project, the single kickstarts the process of the band dropping a single a month for the whole of 2020.

Winding and working their way toward a new Sheppard album (due late 2020), the band is challenging themselves. New music videos and social content will be accompanying the monthly release of these singles, tying the material together.

“Our forthcoming album isn’t necessarily a concept album,” George added. “There’s definitely a cohesive theme running throughout the songs and a linear narrative that I hope people are able to piece together as the year goes on and the album grows.”
