A sign language interpreter at a Lamb Of God gig in the US has become an unlikely hero amongst music fans today, after footage of her translating one of the group’s songs has gone viral online.

Over the last few years, a number of musical artists have begun to provide sign language interpreters at their gigs for audience members who may be somewhat hard of hearing. Notably, Chance The Rapper made sure that translators were on hand at his 2017 tour, while the inaugural leg of Dylan Alcott’s Ability Fest also featured translators at the event.

In fact, a couple of years ago, the ABC even did a story on Amber Galloway Gallego, who is a professional sign language interpreter who specialises in helping deaf people understand music and has shared the stage with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, and more.

Needless to say, it’s a much-needed aspect of live performances, and more and more artists are utilising these translators, including US metal group Lamb Of God.

At the moment, Lamb Of God are out on the road in the US, performing as one of the many support band’s on the farewell tour for thrash-metal icons Slayer. One of the stops on this tour was in Austin, Texas, where the group performed a typically-brilliant live show.

However, it seems that the majority of fans in the front row might not have been paying attention to the wild, head-banging antics of frontman Randy Blythe, but rather focusing on the sign language interpreter who was doing a stunning job just to the left of the stage.

Footage recorded by a Facebook user shows the interpreter translating the lyrics to Lamb Of God’s ‘Ruin’, while also using the opportunity to rock the heck out, performing air guitar, air drumming, and just being one of the most metal people you’ve ever seen.

Considering that she was this active during the second song of the band’s set, there’s no saying just how energetic she was by the time they wrapped up proceedings, but judging by how professional she looked, we doubt that was ever an issue.

While there have been rumours about whether or not Slayer will be bringing their huge farewell tour to Australia some time in the future, fans are undoubtedly hoping that Lamb Of God might accompany them on their trip Down Under. No word yet as to whether the interpreter will also be joining the group if they grace us with their presence, but after seeing the footage, we can only hope!
