Slayer are currently deep into a their North American farewell tour, so it’s understandable that fans are getting pretty desperate to see the thrash-metal legends live. However, none appear to be as desperate as one Canadian fan who attempted to swim back into the gig after being kicked out by security.

Last week saw Slayer performing at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto, Canada as part of their farewell tour. Performing alongside the likes of Testament, Behemoth, Anthrax, and Lamb Of God, this gig was a metal-lover’s dream, so when Chris LaRocque was booted by security for being a little too under the influence, he took matters into his own hands.

“I was a little inebriated, not like fall-down drunk or nothing, but I was feeling pretty good,” explained LaRocque to Exclaim. “I was just like headbanging and moshing around a little bit.”

“I was pretty bummed.”

Noticing that the venue was surrounded on all sides by Lake Ontario, LaRocque decided to put conventional wisdom to one side and attempted to swim back into the venue, at which point he captured the attention of Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian, who took a few pictures of the soggy metalhead.

Lowering himself into the cold water, LaRocque soon found himself swimming into the venue in hopes of seeing his favourite band, Anthrax. “I wasn’t going fast,” he explained. “I was just trying to be incognito — I had my camouflage hat on, so I thought that might help.”

However, it didn’t help that much, because security and medical personnel were on hand to intercept him as he made his way back into the ground. Despite some attempts by Slayer guitarist Gary Holt to have LaRocque re-admitted to the festival, he was eventually booted once and for all by security, meaning he sadly missed out on his favourite bands.

While Chris LaRocque might have missed out on seeing Slayer at this recent show, he has since been given tickets to the band’s upcoming gig in London this August. No word on how he’ll get there, but we hope he might be flying over, because it’s one hell of a swim.

In other news, there’s currently no word if Slayer’s farewell tour is set to include an Australian leg, though some comments made by Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah – who brought the band back to Australia for their last tour – suggests that we might be receiving some final dates from the thrash-metal legends at some point this year.
