Formerly of The Felice Brothers and now a fully fledged solo author and artist, Simone is set to hit Sydney and Melbourne in September as part of the Melbourne Writers Festival as well as playing s set of gigs.

Born in the Catskills Mountains, at age 12 he suffered a brain aneurysm and after emergency surgery he had to relearn all his basic motor skills, and in 2011, he undertook emergency open-heart surgery forcing his last tour to be cancelled. At 15, he was starting punk bands before turning his hand to poetry and writing, which lead to his first collection, The Picture Show, at age 22. Then, with brothers Ian and James he formed The Felice Brothers, which Simone stayed a part of for the recordings of Tonight at the Arizona, The Felice Brothers, and Yonder is the Clock.

During this time, Simone also managed to publish his first short works of fiction, Goodbye Amelia, and Hail Mary Full of Hole. Moving onto a new musical group, he formed The Duke & The King with his old friend Bird. Recorded in a cabin in the Catskills Nothing Gold Can Stay was followed up by 2010’s Long Live The Duke & The King has been similarly praised. Simone’s first novel, Black Jesus is set for release on Allen & Unwin.
