A Sincerely Grizzly Australian Tour 2013 has been announced as the Adelaide trio drop a visceral new single.
‘Us; Or Optimism’ is the brand new cut from Sincerely, Grizzly, and it shows the three-piece evolving their serrated yet passionate brand of intelligent rock into a powerful new pointed approach.
Mixed by Brad Wood (Sunny Day Real Estate, Placebo, Smashing Pumpkins) and mastered by Emily Lazar (Death Cab For Cutie, Brand New) ‘Us; or Optimism’ finds the self proclaimed “lit-rock” trio maintaining their trademark combination of time signature changes and blistering pop quirk, while raising the production stakes a considerable level from previous efforts.
It’s arguably their best work to date, and once again finds the band walking an emotional tightrope, balancing on a line somewhere between an American high school football movie and a wake.
‘Us; or Optimism’ is the first track from Sincerely, Grizzly’s forthcoming debut album Halves (due for release in 2014) and is available now to download for free from Triple J Unearthed, Soundcloud and Bandcamp.
The new single sees Sincerely, Grizzly announcing a new run of national headline dates through November.
It’s been a busy year for the band, who’ve played the Big Day Out and Laneway Festivals in their hometown, supported countless touring acts including Bob Mould, Birds Of Tokyo, Presidents Of The USA, and Japandroids, as well as having toured nationally as the sole support act for their idols and key musical inspiration …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead.

“Their tight, pounding punctuations and shifting moods go straight for the wiry 90s alt-rock jugular,” wrote our Tone Deaf reviewer of Sincerely, Grizzly at the Melbourne leg of Trail Of Dead’s tour; “Joshua Calligeros’ nasally, cathartic howls even have an Americanised sneer to them, which would risk cultural cringe if it didn’t feel like Sincerely, Grizzly were the only band in Adelaide (if not the country) doing this kind of caustic alt-rock so effectively.”
