It’s been over four years since Sinéad O’Connor hit the live stage, but ahead of her return to touring, the iconic musician has hit up Irish TV for a powerful performance of her biggest hit.

Back in August of 2015, Sinéad O’Connor wrapped up a lengthy world tour in support of her latest album, I’m Not Bossy, I’m The Boss. However, few knew at the time this would be the last time they would get to see the music icon for quite some time.

Retreating from the stage, the last couple of years have seen O’Connor make headlines for the wrong reasons, with fears for her mental health being raised, before saying that she’s “disgusted” by white people in a rant on Twitter.

Last month though, it was announced that O’Connor would be making her return to the live stage for what appears to be a whole new chapter of her career, promising a “new beginning”, a world tour, and “new music” along the way.

Now, with her first live shows in years on the way, the famed singer appeared on Ireland’s The Late Late Show recently for a pair of powerful performances.

Despite having said in 2015 that she would no longer perform her version of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’, Sinéad O’Connor kicked off her televised performance with a rendition of the classic song, which was famously authored by Prince.

Dressed in a red abaya, O’Connor’s voice was as stunning as ever, wrapping up her two-song appearance with a cover of The Pogues’ 1986 classic ‘A Rainy Night In Soho’.

Following the appearance, O’Connor discussed a number of topics, including her conversion to Islam and how she now goes by the name Shuhada Sadaqat, before later taking to Twitter to explain her controversial comments that saw her label white people as ‘disgusting’.

“As regards to remarks I made while angry and unwell, about white people… they were not true at the time and they are not true now,” she shared on social media.

“I was triggered as a result of islamophobia dumped on me. I apologize for hurt caused. That was one of many crazy tweets lord knows.”

While there’s no word as to when Sinéad O’Connor might make her return to Australia, there’s every chance we might be hearing some new music to accompany this long-awaited visit.
