We’ve been waiting six years, but it’s almost here; come August 15th Firekites will release their second album Closing Forever Sky (via Spunk Records) the anticipated follow up to their incredible debut, The Bowery.
‘The Counting’ is the second track released from the upcoming album, and it’s definitely a ‘headphones’ track, full of delicate twists and new aural discoveries with each repeated listen.
Over a three year period Closing Forever Sky was recorded and produced by founding Firekites member Tim Mcphee at the dining table of his Newcastle home studio. The legendary John McEntire (The Tortoise, The Sea And Cake) was then enlisted to mix the entire record at his famous Soma Electronic Music Studios in Chicago, Illinois, and from what we’ve heard so far the results are breathtaking.
