‘You’re one in a million, Yeah, that’s what you are’ sang Axl Rose in Guns n’ Roses controversial 1988 GNR Lies album track One In A Million.
However, it looks like inflation may have pushed that figure higher – much higher. Guitarist Slash has revealed in an interview with GQ magazine that he’s been offered over $US100 million to re-join the band – and that it’ll never happen. “I can’t remember exact numbers, but [the offers have been] excessive,” Slash revealed to GQ. “Seven, eight-digit kinds of things.”
When pushed as to whether the amount was higher than $100m (£62m), Slash said, “Yeah”. With Axl Rose stating that one of the two of them would die before they’d get back together and Slash similarly swearing never to speak to Axl again, these figures are all hypothetical.
With Chinese Democracy a long way away from recouping costs for Geffen, and Slash’s Velvet Revolver currently without a vocalist after Scott Weiland was kicked out yet again, figures like this make the prospect of them kissing and making up not completely out of the realms of possibility.
