Slayer cancelled their Soundwave Festival slot on Friday, just minutes before they were to take the stage for the Sydney leg of the event, with front man Tom Araya rushed to hospital. Promoter AJ Maddah tweeted the news saying “Tom Araya has been taken to hospital. Slayer set looking unlikely today :(“
He later confirmed that the band would in have fact to cancel. Araya was kept in hospital overnight, but no further details of his condition have yet emerged. The festival assures fans that the next slot the band are due to play in Melbourne this Friday will go ahead.
