An American Slayer fan has again made headlines for standing up to a volatile hurricane while blasting out the band’s music.

Back in 2016, a video went viral of a dedicated Slayer fan standing up to Hurricane Matthew by rocking out. The video featured a young man, covered only in shorts, headbanging while waving the American flag, as Slayer’s ‘Raining Blood’ soundtracked the scene.

Needless to say, this fan went viral, as metalheads the world over praised him for his dedication to rocking out, even in the face of, y’know, death. However, it soon became clear that he had a penchant for such activity, with another video being released last year showing him facing off with Hurricane Irma.

Now, the hurricane-defying metalhead has emerged once again to face another hurricane head-on.

Over the last couple of weeks, Hurricane Florence has wreaked havoc all across the Southeastern United States. As some people evacuated their homes in search of safety, others decided to stay behind for various reasons.

As it turns out, Lane Pittman has decided to make a continuing habit of rocking out in a hurricane, and left his home in Jacksonville, Florida, to drive up to South Carolina to once again face his windy fate.

This time, Pittman even started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for fuel and coffee to help him make the trip. At the time of writing, Pittman has raised well over $1,000, far exceeding his goal of $150.

However, the trip eventually paid off, with Pittman making his way to South Carolina to film himself headbanging to the sounds of Slayer during Hurricane Florence.

A local newscast managed to interview Pittman as well, who was being aided by police after receiving a flat tyre in the storm. Having been described as being “silly in the street”, the news reporter soon called him over for a brief chat.

“So right now, you’re naked,” the reporter asked him. “The audience wants to know … what is in your head to be outside in this weather right now, not wearing any clothes?”

“Just being free and American, man,” Pittman responded, denying that his toplessness was an attempt at fame. “Look, I’ve already been viral,” he explained. “Look up ‘hurricane headbanger’.”

Currently, Slayer are in the process of wrapping up their storied career with a farewell tour that is taking them around the globe.

While we’ve not received news of any concrete tour dates yet, a recent announcement revealed that Slayer are indeed set to return to Australia before they hang up their instruments one final time. While we doubt there will be any hurricanes on Aussie soil for fans to headbang to, we can rest easy knowing we’re set to see the iconic thrash-metallers one last time.
