Slipknot have announced a special tenth anniversary edition of their 2008 album All Hope Is Gone, coming next month.
Over the last year, Slipknot have been teasing fans with news of a brand new record. While Corey Taylor has stated that these his new lyrics are among some of the best he’s written, it seems as though we’ll have to wait until mid-2019 to see what the new album sounds like.
While the band recently announced that they’re planning to put together “a little something for the 20th anniversary” of their self-titled 1999 debut, it seems that they’ve recently focused their attention on one of their more recent releases.
Taking to Twitter earlier today, the band announced that a special expanded reissue of 2008’s All Hope Is Gone is set to be released on December 7th. With reimagined artwork, the record is also set to feature a bonus live set from the group’s headlining spot at New York City’s Madison Square Garden in 2009.

The announcement of this reissue also coincides with a new interview from Corey Taylor, Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan, and former drummer Joey Jordison, as they discuss how they felt the band “cracking” during the album’s recording.
“Nobody was talking to each other, everybody was going behind everybody’s back trying to make the album theirs,” Corey Taylor explained to Metal Hammer of the recording process, noting this as the point Slipknot were at their “most fractious”.
“The tensions are what made that record great,” echoed Joey Jordison. “Everyone was completely on fire with emotions and being in different places, and you could see the lines in the sand, you could feel the concrete breaking a little bit.”
“You could feel the band cracking. There was so much going on during that time that I think that’s what made the record so brutal. Everyone had some sort of tension to get out just to make it the heaviest record that we could.”
The tenth anniversary edition of All Hope Is Gone is out December 7th. Pre-orders for the limited edition vinyl are available from here. Check out the artwork and tracklist below.
