Nu metal’s most extreme and enduring forefathers Slipknot have just taken to their socials to tease something pretty massive for 2019.

The band, who haven’t released an album since 2014’s  .5: The Gray Chapter have dropped subtle hints over the last few months, revealing that they have in fact worked on new music for you to mosh your brains out to.

Clown or #6, revealed late last year that the band wouldn’t be heading back into the studio until late 2018, but a post on Corey Taylor’s Instagram seems to suggest otherwise.

Corey Taylor took to Instagram this morning to post a selfie with the subtle caption, “2019”, with the band’s official Twitter account following suit, reposting the photo with the same caption.

In November 2017, the band revealed they had written eight new songs for an album so hopefully, we’ll hear those beautiful musical nuggets sometime soon. If Slipknot were to release an album in 2019, it would make for the prime opportunity to get the band over as a Download Festival headliner. We could dream…..
