Rumours surrounding the Smashing Pumpkins imminent return have now been sent into overdrive mode, with photos of the alleged reunion lineup surfacing over the weekend.

Frontman Billy Corgan has been teasing a new album featuring the band’s classic lineup (without D’Arcy Wretsky), taking to Instagram last week to confirm the band had been working in the studio with Rick Rubin.

Now, images have surfaced of the band partaking in a photo shoot that seems to reveal what the fresh-faced lineup could look like. Check them out below:

The images show members from the band’s classic lineup, along with Jeff Schroeder who jumped on board in 2007. Billy has recently taken to Instagram to show Schroeder in the studio playing bass so it’s most likely he’ll be part of the legendary acts comeback.

James Iha has made three appearances with the band since 2016, but hasn’t participated in recording since 2000’s Machine/ The Machines Of God, whilst Jimmy Chamberlin rejoined the group as a touring member in 2015.

Billy has recently taken to Instagram to air his philosophical ponderings after a recent stint in hospital that left fans speculating the state of his health, saying, “Sometimes rock and roll has its costs. But it does occur to me sitting here that my aim is to make peace with my family first, and then spend whatever time I have left here making peace with God”. He has since confirmed that his health is in fine order.
