It’s been five long years since Something For Kate last released an album — 2012’s math-rock-leaning Leave Your Soul to Science — and while they haven’t exactly been hanging upside-down from the overpass since, with Paul Dempsey embarking on solo records, overseas tours and the like, it will be good to have a new SFK record sooner rather than later.

The band posted the below update to their Twitter account which tells us scant little about the new record other than there will definitely be electric hollow-bodied 12-string guitar, the studio owner enjoys reading selections from the Penguin Classics range, and that Dempsey will refuse to record his parts unless seated on a piano stool.

They have a few shows later in the year with Midnight Oil (whose ‘Dream World’ the band covered yonks ago) so hopefully this record will be out in  a few months.
