Soul Asylum and Ugly Kid Joe have joined forces for a co-headline Australian tour set for March 2027, marking Soul Asylum’s first shows on our shores since the mid-1990s.

The tour will kick off in Perth, before moving through Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney, and wrapping up in Brisbane. It’s the first joint run between the two acts, and the first time Soul Asylum have toured Australia since 1995’s Let Your Light Shine.

Across 13 studio albums, the Dave Pirner-fronted band’s biggest moment came via 1992’s double-platinum Grave Dancers Union, which introduced “Runaway Train” to the world, which took home the Grammy Award for Best Rock Song in 1994. The band has since shared stages with Guns N’ Roses, The Cure, Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Radiohead, and released their most recent album, Slowly But Shirley, in 2024.

Meanwhile, Ugly Kid Joe made history with their 1991 debut EP, As Ugly As They Wanna Be, the first short-form release ever certified multi-platinum by the RIAA.

The band last toured Australia in 2017 for the 25th anniversary of America’s Least Wanted.
