After the recent floods in Queensland and then Victoria, Australia’s music community was quick to step up to the plate to assist victims. The usual cut throat world of music promoters saw a number of big names band together and start scoping out a Sound Relief 2, in a restaging of the Sound Relief events of 2009 which saw millions raised to aid flood and bushfire victims.

That was over a month ago, and we haven’t heard any more about it. So have the big names backed down? Not at all. Promoter Michael Chugg reckons that the weather is going to get worse this month. “This weather is going to get worse and worse. We’re going to wait until it all calms down before we do anything,” Chuggie says.

“It’s pretty bad out there, and (some scientists) are saying March is going to be really tough. Somebody’s going to need to do something about this global warming.” In addition to Sydney and Melbourne events, a concert is also being planned for Brisbane.
