The official Soundwave 2014 set times were released last week, but after backlash from fans and bands on the lineup, promoter AJ Maddah has vowed to fix the “unacceptable” timetables.

Despite issuing drafts of the playing times on his own twitter ahead of revealing the full timetables last Thursday, Maddah and the Soundwave team have since scrapped the schedule and confirmed that “absolutely final” set times and maps will be released later today.

The revisions will address complaints from ticket-holders over the multiple clashes of the original schedule, as well as balancing requests from bands on the 90+ strong Soundwave 2014 lineup, and likely include the revisions after Whitechapel announced they’d pulled out of the Soundwave 2014 lineup this morning.

UPDATE 9pm 17/02: As promised, the revised Soundwave 2014 set times and maps have been revealed.

Various tweets from the promoter indicate that among the specific changes to the Soundwave 2014 set times will be a longer set for Avenged Sevenfold (originally set to play for one hour), as well as potential extended times for Bowling For Soup, Zebrahead, and Our Last Night. While clashes between Gwar and Rob Zombie, Black Veil Brides and Suicide Silence, and Panic! At The Disco and Placebo will be lessened or fixed entirely.

The revised timetables however will not – as speculated by some hopeful fans – include Megadeth, who are definitely out of the festival after cancelling on their Soundwave commitments just days after Newsted were dropped from Megadeth’s Sidewave shows.

Another absent act is Whitechapel – who were originally touted to replace Newsted on the Sidewave shows – and have also announced that they have pulled out of the festival this morning due to the death of a close family member.

All in all, juggling the huge lineup to satisfy both Soundwave’s patrons and performers seems to have taken its toll on the Soundwave promotor, with Maddah posting a few irritable tweets over the course of the weekend.

While the Soundwave 2014 lineup has lost four acts in recent months (Sevendust, Stone Temple Pilots, Megadeth, and Whitechapel), the bill has also grown with the addition of the five winners of the Triple J Unearthed competition, with each leg of the hard and heavy festival getting an additional band who will open the event in their respective hometown.

Opening in Brisbane will be five-piece band Chronolyth, Sydney will get punk rockers Trophy Eyes, quartet Ceres will start in Melbourne, Sierra will be added to the Adelaide bill, while Xenobiotic will be the first act at the newly-moved Arena Joondalup on the closing Perth date of Soundwave 2014.

The last minute Perth venue change, following in the footsteps of Big Day Out, sees Soundwave moving away from the Claremont Showgrounds to Arena Joondalup following battles with Claremont Council. A shift enabled by Future Music and Frontier Touring, who will swap their own Good Life festival with Soundwave, a swap they “felt strongly” about.

“So excited! Finally no ridiculous sound restrictions or thugs closing down stages!” enthused Maddah recently of the venue change.
