With the first band for 2015’s lineup been announced, Soundwave Festival has grown to one of, if not the grandest traveling music festivals within Australia. For the month of February, our fair nation plays temporary home to hundreds of international acts, many of whom are making their maiden voyage ‘down under.’

As you can imagine, coming to Australia in Summer for the first time apart of one of the most rockin’ gigs imaginable is pretty damn exciting and getting out amongst the culture is half the fun. A favourite past time is to take a dip at any of our famed beaches, and that’s what glam-metal supremos The Black Veil Brides decided to do.

Unfortunately, this sun-soaked paddle resulted in the hair-metal band almost drowning and having to be rescued by none other than the team of Bondi Rescue – which aired on Channel 10 this Sunday night, as FasterLouder point out.

Beach safety is no laughing matter, however the retrieval of these Californian rockers from the sea is absolutely hilarious.

Lifeguard Azza.B is the hero of this story, who recounts first spotting “two girls in trouble,” racing to the rescue he wryly cemented, “as I got closer I realised they’re actually guys..with long hair.”

Laughter starting to crack, Azza continues “the fellas were from a rock band ‘The Black Veil Brides’….it kinda suits because we did think they were both female when we went for the rescue.”

Thankfully, our lifeguards plucked the floundering musicians from the Bondi sea before anything serious occurred.

Hiding his fear behind a sheen of nonchalance, lead guitarist Jake Pitts sums the whole experience up perfectly “the ocean is healing, yet deadly, you have to know how to handle it.”
