Soundwave Festival promoter AJ Maddah has warned fans in the South Australian capital that if ticket sales don’t improve for the forthcoming Adelaide instalment of the hard rock and punk festival, the event could become exclusive to the East Coast.
After a curious fan asked the outspoken promoter how ticket sales in the city, which has a history of trouble with Soundwave, were going, Maddah replied, “Pathetic. Last Soundwave in Adelaide unless it picks up in a big way.”

It’s not the first time that the future of the Adelaide event has been cast in doubt. Last year, Maddah claimed that the city’s council was attempting to kill the festival by turning the bureaucratic screws on organisers. However, it now appears that the festival’s biggest enemy is the fans.
If Adelaide does indeed get omitted from future Soundwave instalments, the festival will become an East Coast exclusive. The city of Perth hosted its final Soundwave event last year, with Maddah claiming that keeping Perth would have meant the end of the festival.
@jace441 Pathetic. Last SW in Adelaide unless it picks up in a big way.
