The recent WA Coronavirus outbreak has had a devastating impact on Spacey Jane who’ve announced that they’ve had to reschedule their Brisbane shows scheduled for this weekend off the back of the recent outbreak.
The band, who hail from Perth, Western Australia were set to play nine sold-out shows in QLD between April 25th – April 29th. Yesterday they made the announcement on Instagram that they have been forced to postpone their shows which were scheduled to take place on the 24th and 25th of April.
The cancellation comes as a result of the positive COVID-19 case from a hotel quarantine that caused the Perth and Peel regions to go into a three-day lockdown beginning last Friday. It’s since been announced that anyone who was in the aforementioned areas between 17th-24th April must isolate, regardless of where they are, until WA’s lockdown order lifts.
“Can’t believe we’re writing this after more than a year of postponements. This weekend’s shows at the Riverstage need to be rescheduled – again,” the band began in their statement to IG.
“Given the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in Perth (and because we flew from there), we’ve been instructed by QLD Health to quarantine until Tuesday the 27th.”
“Unfortunately there’s no way around this,” the statement continued. “We’ve spent the last 24 hours trying everything we possibly can to make it happen- we’ve taken several rapid tests (that have all come back negative) and planned to establish ‘bubbles’ at the venue to safely play, but our request for leniency or exemption have been denied by the QLD chief Health Officer.”

Spacey Jane has announced that the shows will be rescheduled for next week. However, there is always the possibility that the lockdown will be extended for people who were in the Perth or Peel area at the time of the infection.
“Tonight’s show [24th April] will now take place next week on Wednesday the 28th of April. Tomorrow’s show [25th April] will now be on Thursday the 29th of April.”
The band has also reassured fans that if they can’t make the date they will be entitled to a full refund.
Fellow Aussie act Ballpark Music has offered their condolences in the comments section of Spacey Jane’s statement.
“Ahhhh legends so sorry 😔 if you need anything delivered to the hotel or if there’s anything we can do let us know,” they commented on the announcement.
As of now South Australia, Queensland, Victoria, the Northern Territory and Tasmania have all slammed the door shut to people coming from the coronavirus hotspots without valid exemptions. NSW and the ACT are still accepting travellers from Perth and Peel.
