Sydney hardcore heroes SPEED have unleashed their searing new single ‘A Dumb Dog Gets Flogged’. An unflinching, politically-fuelled face melter that cements SPEED as one of the most crucial bands on the Australian hardcore scene.

“‘A Dumb Dog Gets Flogged’ was “born in reaction to the failed leadership of our government during the 2019-2020 Australian bushfires. Empathy and compassion should always be the premise for meaningful action,” vocalist Jem Siow explains.

The track is a thunderous, bone-crushing indictment of complacency and idle speech: “Speak your words thru action / And let your morals show / Weak dogs bow to ignorance / A style I’ll never know”. It’s mandatory listening.

The ethos of SPEED —who are comprised of members of mostly Southeast Asian descent— skewer racism, xenophobia and toxic masculinity that permeate through hardcore.

‘A Dumb Dog Gets Flogged’ marks the bands first release through Baltimore label Flatspot Records. It will feature on two-song 2020 Flex, set to arrive on June 19th.

The band are putting their money where their mouth is and donating 50% of webstore profits to The Bail Project and 50% to Sisters Inside. You can pre-order the 7″ here.
