Australia’s own weird and wondrous unsung hero, SPOD has released the video for his song ‘Becomes A Wife’, kicking off the album launch tour for his brand new album Adult Fantasy.
SPOD’s newest release, Adult Fantasy, has been a joy of whirling 80’s synths and wondrous walls of sound since its release. With a music career spanning 25-years, SPOD shows no signs of slowing down or relenting, and is now coming our way to kick off his album launch tour.
4ZZZ said of the album: “One of the more interesting Australian records to drop in 2019. A teetering tower of 80’s clichés, somehow it turns every one of them to its advantage,” and honestly it’s hard not to agree.
Just recently, SPOD released the nostalgia-drenched video for the thoroughly entertaining single, ‘Becomes A Wife’. Check out the clip, wedding bells, and awkward karaoke-like singing and all, below.

Following up from his hugely successful album launches in Sydney and Wollongong last weekend (where the man performed so hard he lost his voice), SPOD’s fantasies of being an adult have become wilder, spreading to Melbourne and Brisbane.
Adult Fantasy was named Album of the Week on 2SER radio, and The Guardian wrote an incredible long-form piece on the artist, and how he is “bashing against a wall of anxiety.”
The album ruminates on the joys and pitfalls of growing older and sees SPOD adopt a lyrical poignancy that journeys from the romance and sexual energy of making a life-long commitment, looking after yourself, fearing for your loved ones, getting online and a general terror of our mindless march into a political apocalypse.
Not to mention the albums closer, the 46-minute ‘Golden Gaytime’, is an incredible treat (no pun intended), with such an extensive list of featuring artists, that it very well could be a contender for the Guinness World Record.
