American parody band Steel Panther have faced a strong level of criticism recently, revealing the upcoming release of their signature ‘Pussy Melter’ guitar pedal. A number of musicians came forward to express their disdain for the name, calling for manufacturer TC Electronics to pull the product entirely.
Eventually, TC Electronics issued an apology, saying, “it’s become clear that a number of people have been offended by the title and description of a delay TonePrint that we created over a year ago with Steel Panther’s Satchel,” in a statement issued on their website, announcing the product would no longer be available for purchase.
Now, Steel Panther’s lead guitarist Sachel has taken to Twitter to reveal he has been working “overtime” with TC to share that he’d be replacing ‘Pussy Melter’ with a more politically correct name – ‘Butthole Burner’.
“I’m working overtime with TC Electronics to re-release the “pussy melter” tone print under the less offensive, more politically correct name of the “Butthole Burner”. Don’t worry- it will still melt your pussy, ladies.”

Steel Panther’s drummer has also taken to Twitter to respond to the criticism the band received for the name, saying “Today has been really entertaining online. Again, I’d sincerely like to express my love of pussy, weed, partying and heavy metal. @Steel_Panther is a lifestyle.”

A petition has also begun calling to bring back the ‘Pussy Melter’ tone print, with those in favour of the name saying that it received an unfair amount of backlash from a small number of people, defending the right to enjoy all types of humour.
“We want to asses how many people hold the opposite view, and believe that people have the right to enjoy all kinds of products and humour, while other have the right to not buy or endorse those things.”
“Our argument is that it is unfair for a small number of personal objections to have the power to dictate the will of an independent company. We in no way blame TC Electronic for their decision to remove the product for fear of bad press.”
