Steve Kilbey is an icon of Australian music. Best known as front man and bass player for The Church, he’s released 30 albums with them and written Australian anthems such as ‘The Unguarded Moment’, ‘Reptile’ and ‘Under The Milky Way’. He’s also put out a slew of highly regarded releases in collaboration with other artists such as the late Grant McLennan of The Go-Betweens as Jack Frost and in solo mode as Painkiller.

Ahead of being inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame with The Church next month, he’s doing a one off performance with Ricky Maymi of the Brian Jonestown Massacre this Saturday night at Ding Dong Lounge in Melbourne as part of Tone Deaf’s 1st Birthday celebrations.

This is a one off performance of his work with The Church, solo and collaborations and is backed by a full band. Ahead of the gig, Steve shared with us the ten best and worst things about being in a band.
